Neiel Norheim
Neiel Norheim is an accomplished architect based in Los Angeles. With a diverse portfolio of projects spanning residential and commercial developments, Norheim has established himself as a prominent figure in the architectural landscape.
Neiel founded Norheim Design in 2009 and since then he has managed numerous residential and tenant improvement projects, showcasing his expertise in design and project management. Additionally, under Norheim Design, he provided design consulting services for the esteemed Graft LA firm, MIR Fort Peck sustainable design village.
Before this, from 2004 to 2008, Neiel worked with GRAFT LA. As a Project Manager, he excelled in coordinating and scheduling design processes for projects such as the Roppongi Residential Development in Tokyo. He also participated in the DC Roll Out Retail Store, where he consulted with clients, negotiated contracts, and managed design and coordination with consultants. Another notable project during this time was the Ariaka Residential Tower in Tokyo, where Neiel contributed as a Project Designer, involved in the development and realization of the architectural concept. In addition, he served as a Project Captain for the DC Flagship Store in Soho, New York, leading various responsibilities from concept design development to construction administration.
Prior to his time with GRAFT LA, Neiel gained experience at Coop Himmelblau from 2003 to 2004. As a Project Designer, he played a key role in developing schematic designs and creating physical models for projects like the HS9 Los Angeles High School for the Arts in Los Angeles. He also contributed to projects such as the Guangzhou TV Tower competition in Guangzhou, China, and the ATI Center competition in Tehran, Iran.
Neiel also shared his knowledge and expertise through teaching positions at various institutions. From 2010 to 2011, he served as an Instructor at Woodbury University, teaching Architecture 211, focusing on Design Communication. Additionally, Neiel held teaching positions at Pasadena City College from 2005 to 2011 and at Otis School of Design in 2006. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Architecture with a minor in Sustainable Environments from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo from 2000 to 2003. During his studies, Neiel participated in the Denmark International Studies Program, earning a Diploma of Completion in 2001-2002. He also holds an Associates in Arts degree from Pasadena City College, where he completed his foundational studies from 1996 to 1999. In 2009, Neiel was recognized for his management and design work on the Make It Right project in New Orleans Lower 9th Ward, featured in the publication "Architecture in Time of Need." Additionally, during his time at California Polytechnic State University, Norheim received the Fisher Memorial scholarship for his outstanding work.
